PostgreSQL Multi-Region Cluster on MassiveGRID PaaS
The PostgreSQL Multi-Region Cluster deploys a PostgreSQL primary in one MassiveGRID region and hot-standby replicas in others, joined by streaming replication. Reads are served locally in each region and any standby can be promoted if the primary region is lost.

What is PostgreSQL Multi-Region Cluster?
For applications with users on several continents, a database in one region means every query pays a long round trip for users elsewhere. For applications with strict continuity requirements, a single region is a single point of failure. This package solves both by distributing PostgreSQL across New York, London, Frankfurt and Singapore in whatever combination you choose.
The installer places the primary in your chosen region, deploys standbys in the others, configures streaming replication over the inter-region network and gives each region its own connection endpoint. Applications write to the primary and read from the closest standby; if the primary region fails, a standby is promoted and the others re-point to it.
What the PostgreSQL Multi-Region Cluster Package Deploys
Marketplace packages are not bare container images. One click provisions a complete, production-shaped environment on MassiveGRID infrastructure.
- Primary in one region: A PostgreSQL container accepting all writes, with WAL shipping configured for remote standbys.
- Standbys in other regions: Read-only hot standbys in each additional region, each holding a full copy of the data.
- Cross-region replication: Streaming replication configured over the inter-region network with replication slots to tolerate temporary link loss.
- Per-region endpoints: Connection details for each region so applications read locally.
Why Teams Choose PostgreSQL Multi-Region Cluster
Local reads on every continent
Serve queries from the standby in the user's region and cut latency dramatically for global applications.
Regional disaster recovery
A complete, continuously updated copy in another jurisdiction, ready for promotion within minutes.
Data residency control
Choose which regions hold data, for example EU-only with London and Frankfurt.
Pure PostgreSQL
Native streaming replication, so extensions, tooling and drivers work unchanged.

Why Run PostgreSQL Multi-Region Cluster on MassiveGRID PaaS
Built for uptime. PostgreSQL Multi-Region Cluster runs on MassiveGRID's high-availability platform, where every environment is covered by a 100% uptime SLA. Nodes live on redundant hosts, storage is replicated, and failed containers are restarted or migrated automatically.
Pay for what you use. Billing is hourly and per cloudlet (128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU). Vertical auto-scaling adds and removes cloudlets as load changes, so a quiet PostgreSQL Multi-Region Cluster environment costs a few dollars a month and a busy one grows without a migration. Full details are on the PaaS page.
Your choice of jurisdiction. Deploy in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore and keep data inside the region your users or regulators require. MassiveGRID is ISO 9001 certified and GDPR compliant, and has run hosting infrastructure since 2003.
No lock-in. The package is a standard Jelastic Packaging Standard (JPS) manifest. You keep root-level access to the containers, can export the manifest, and can move the workload to any other Jelastic-compatible platform or to your own servers at any time.
