What is Database Backup/Restore?
Databases change constantly, so a nightly environment snapshot is not enough for many applications; you want dumps at intervals you choose, kept off the database server, restorable to a point in time. Doing that reliably means consistent dumps that do not lock production, transfer to separate storage, retention management and a tested restore path.

It schedules dumps in any timezone, uses the engine's native tools for consistency, copies archives to a Backup Storage node, keeps the number of copies you configure and offers one-click restore into the same or a different environment. It understands clustered topologies, taking dumps from a replica where possible so the primary is never slowed.
