What is Odoo?
Odoo is one of the most widely used open-source ERP platforms, with more than 12 million users according to the vendor. The Community Edition contains the core applications under the LGPL, and thousands of community modules extend it. Because every application shares the same data model, a quote created in CRM becomes a sales order, a delivery, an invoice and an accounting entry without re-keying anything.
Self-hosting Odoo gives you full control over data, modules and upgrade timing, but it means running a Python application server and PostgreSQL correctly. The marketplace package does that for you: it deploys Odoo and PostgreSQL as separate containers, links them, and hands you the database manager to create your first company. Vertical auto-scaling keeps month-end reporting responsive without a permanently oversized server.
What the Odoo Package Deploys
Marketplace packages are not bare container images. One click provisions a complete, production-shaped environment on MassiveGRID infrastructure.
- Odoo application server: A Python container running the Odoo server with worker processes configured for the allocated cloudlets.
- PostgreSQL database: A dedicated PostgreSQL container, the database engine Odoo requires, with credentials injected into the Odoo configuration.
- Persistent filestore: Attachments, documents and module data stored on persistent container storage with snapshot support.
- Built-in domain and SSL: HTTPS on a platform subdomain immediately; attach your own domain with the Let's Encrypt add-on.
Why Teams Choose Odoo
All business apps in one system
CRM, sales, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, accounting, HR, helpdesk, website and e-commerce share one database and one login.
Your data, your server
Self-hosting keeps customer, financial and HR data inside the MassiveGRID region you choose, which matters for GDPR and sector regulation.
Modules from the community
Install any module from the Odoo Apps store or the Odoo Community Association (OCA) repositories directly into your instance.
Grows with the business
Start on a couple of cloudlets and let auto-scaling add capacity as users and transactions increase. PostgreSQL can later move to a replicated cluster.

Why Run Odoo on MassiveGRID PaaS
Built for uptime. Odoo runs on MassiveGRID's high-availability platform, where every environment is covered by a 100% uptime SLA. Nodes live on redundant hosts, storage is replicated, and failed containers are restarted or migrated automatically.
Pay for what you use. Billing is hourly and per cloudlet (128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU). Vertical auto-scaling adds and removes cloudlets as load changes, so a quiet Odoo environment costs a few dollars a month and a busy one grows without a migration. Full details are on the PaaS page.
Your choice of jurisdiction. Deploy in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore and keep data inside the region your users or regulators require. MassiveGRID is ISO 9001 certified and GDPR compliant, and has run hosting infrastructure since 2003.
No lock-in. The package is a standard Jelastic Packaging Standard (JPS) manifest. You keep root-level access to the containers, can export the manifest, and can move the workload to any other Jelastic-compatible platform or to your own servers at any time.
