What is Odoo?

Odoo is one of the most widely used open-source ERP platforms, with more than 12 million users according to the vendor. The Community Edition contains the core applications under the LGPL, and thousands of community modules extend it. Because every application shares the same data model, a quote created in CRM becomes a sales order, a delivery, an invoice and an accounting entry without re-keying anything.

Self-hosting Odoo gives you full control over data, modules and upgrade timing, but it means running a Python application server and PostgreSQL correctly. The marketplace package does that for you: it deploys Odoo and PostgreSQL as separate containers, links them, and hands you the database manager to create your first company. Vertical auto-scaling keeps month-end reporting responsive without a permanently oversized server.

What the Odoo Package Deploys

Marketplace packages are not bare container images. One click provisions a complete, production-shaped environment on MassiveGRID infrastructure.

  • Odoo application server: A Python container running the Odoo server with worker processes configured for the allocated cloudlets.
  • PostgreSQL database: A dedicated PostgreSQL container, the database engine Odoo requires, with credentials injected into the Odoo configuration.
  • Persistent filestore: Attachments, documents and module data stored on persistent container storage with snapshot support.
  • Built-in domain and SSL: HTTPS on a platform subdomain immediately; attach your own domain with the Let's Encrypt add-on.

Why Teams Choose Odoo

All business apps in one system

CRM, sales, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, accounting, HR, helpdesk, website and e-commerce share one database and one login.

Your data, your server

Self-hosting keeps customer, financial and HR data inside the MassiveGRID region you choose, which matters for GDPR and sector regulation.

Modules from the community

Install any module from the Odoo Apps store or the Odoo Community Association (OCA) repositories directly into your instance.

Grows with the business

Start on a couple of cloudlets and let auto-scaling add capacity as users and transactions increase. PostgreSQL can later move to a replicated cluster.

How to Install Odoo on MassiveGRID PaaS

Installing the package takes three steps and a few minutes of waiting. No servers to provision, no configuration files to edit.

01

Open the installer

Click Install with free trial or Install to my account. The MassiveGRID PaaS dashboard opens with the Odoo package pre-selected, so nothing has to be copied or pasted.

02

Sign up or sign in

New to the platform? Sign up for the free 14-day trial, which needs no credit card. Existing customers sign in with their usual dashboard credentials.

03

Choose region and deploy

Name the environment, pick New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore, and confirm. The platform builds every Odoo node, wires them together and hands you the live URL and credentials.

Who Runs Odoo on PaaS

SMEs replacing spreadsheets

Small and mid-sized companies consolidating quotes, invoices, stock and contacts into one system without SaaS per-user fees.

Odoo partners and integrators

Consultancies hosting one isolated environment per client, each cloned from a tested base image.

Manufacturers and distributors

Businesses running MRP, inventory and purchasing that need the database close to their warehouse and ERP users.

Why Run Odoo on MassiveGRID PaaS

Built for uptime. Odoo runs on MassiveGRID's high-availability platform, where every environment is covered by a 100% uptime SLA. Nodes live on redundant hosts, storage is replicated, and failed containers are restarted or migrated automatically.

Pay for what you use. Billing is hourly and per cloudlet (128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU). Vertical auto-scaling adds and removes cloudlets as load changes, so a quiet Odoo environment costs a few dollars a month and a busy one grows without a migration. Full details are on the PaaS page.

Your choice of jurisdiction. Deploy in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore and keep data inside the region your users or regulators require. MassiveGRID is ISO 9001 certified and GDPR compliant, and has run hosting infrastructure since 2003.

No lock-in. The package is a standard Jelastic Packaging Standard (JPS) manifest. You keep root-level access to the containers, can export the manifest, and can move the workload to any other Jelastic-compatible platform or to your own servers at any time.

Odoo Questions

Yes. The Community Edition is open source under the LGPLv3 and has no licence cost. You pay MassiveGRID only for the resources the environment uses. Odoo Enterprise adds proprietary modules and requires a subscription from Odoo S.A.; it can be installed into the same environment if you hold a licence.
A few cloudlets comfortably serve a team of 5 to 15 concurrent users for typical CRM and invoicing work. Odoo's worker count is tied to available CPU and RAM, so as vertical auto-scaling adds cloudlets the server can handle more concurrent users without a redeploy.
Yes. Upload modules to the addons path via SFTP or Git, restart the Odoo service from the dashboard, and activate them in developer mode. Root-level container access means nothing is locked down.
Use Odoo's built-in database manager for application-level dumps, and the platform's environment snapshots for whole-instance recovery. The Database Backup/Restore add-on can schedule PostgreSQL dumps to external storage.
There is no licence fee for the package. You pay only for the resources the Odoo environment consumes, billed hourly in cloudlets of 128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU. A single-node environment starts at $2.46 per month, or $0.003372 per hour, and clustered topologies cost more because they run more nodes. See the PaaS pricing page for details.
MassiveGRID PaaS runs in four regions: New York, London, Frankfurt and Singapore. You pick the region in the installer, and every environment is covered by the 100% uptime SLA. Read more about our data centres and network.
Yes. New accounts get a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. Click Install with free trial above, sign up, and the installer opens with Odoo already selected. Trial environments can be scaled, tested and deleted freely, and they convert to pay-per-use billing only when you add a payment method.
