Alternative Odoo package

Odoo Online Alternative self-hosted Odoo on MassiveGRID PaaS

Odoo Online's Standard plan is priced per user and does not allow custom modules; Custom costs more per user and includes Odoo.sh or on-premise hosting. Odoo Community on MassiveGRID PaaS has no per-user fee, takes any module, and installs in one click with its PostgreSQL and filestore, from about $59.04 a month.

Odoo on MassiveGRID PaaS installs in one click in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore, costs about $59.04 a month for the Starter configuration, an Odoo application server (2 GiB) and a PostgreSQL database (1 GiB), and starts with a 14-day free trial. See the sizing table.

The install button opens the MassiveGRID PaaS dashboard with Odoo pre-selected. Sign up without a card, name the environment, pick a region, and the package installs in a few minutes.

Why companies leave Odoo Online

Odoo's US pricing page, checked on 1 November 2026, lists One App Free at $0 for unlimited users of a single app, Standard at $24.90 to $31.10 per user per month billed yearly ($38.90 monthly) and Custom at $49 to $61 ($76.20 monthly), with Custom adding Odoo Studio, multi-company, external API access and the choice of Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or on-premise hosting. The per-user price is the first reason companies look elsewhere: at 60 users the Standard bill passes $1,500 a month.

The second reason is customisation. Standard does not allow custom modules, and most companies that run Odoo seriously end up wanting one: a localisation, a connector, a report. The third is control over the data, which on Odoo Online lives where Odoo hosts it, under Odoo's backup schedule and version cadence.

Odoo Online remains the right answer for a small company that wants Odoo Enterprise apps with no IT involvement and no customisation, and for companies under ten users where the seat price is small. The comparison below says so.

What you get on MassiveGRID PaaS instead

The Odoo package on MassiveGRID PaaS, built on Virtuozzo Application Platform (formerly Jelastic), installs Odoo Community with a PostgreSQL node and a persistent filestore, with a certificate, in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore. No per-user fee: the environment is billed for the cloudlets it uses, sized by Odoo's own worker formula, and scaled vertically for month-end. Custom modules, integrations and the API are yours, with root access and a staging clone that costs cents.

Odoo Enterprise features are a subscription from Odoo (the Custom plan's on-premise option) that runs on this environment; the Odoo hosting page describes the package, and the three-route comparison puts Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and self-hosting side by side.

What the two routes cost side by side

Sixty users on Odoo Online Standard at the yearly rate is between $1,494 and $1,866 a month, depending on which listed figure applies to your contract. The Standard configuration here, sized to Odoo's own 60-user example with headroom, is about $118.08 a month, and the Production configuration with two Odoo nodes $226.32, with no user component; an Odoo Enterprise subscription, if wanted, is added on top from Odoo. The sizing table below has the three configurations and the pricing calculator prices others; figures are ceilings before volume discounts and exclude the operator time Odoo Online absorbs.

How to move from Odoo Online

Download a backup from Odoo Online's database manager, with the filestore, and check that the Odoo version matches the Community release the package installs; Odoo's upgrade service handles version jumps.

Restore on the trial environment through the database manager, re-enter mail server settings and API keys, and test the flows that matter: invoicing, inventory, payroll.

Reconnect integrations and the domain, then run both systems in parallel for a closing period if the finance team wants the comparison.

Set the backup schedule and clone a staging copy before the first custom module, and cancel Odoo Online at the end of the term. Enterprise features need an Odoo subscription keyed to the new database.

What Odoo costs to run here

Three starting configurations, sized in cloudlets (1 cloudlet = 128 MiB RAM + 400 MHz CPU) and priced at the published rate of $0.003372 per cloudlet-hour, or $2.46 per cloudlet-month. Odoo's deployment guide sizes workers at (CPUs × 2) + 1, about six concurrent users per worker and roughly 3 GB of RAM for 9 workers; the Standard row gives the application server 4 GiB for that load.

ConfigurationTopologyCloudletsEst. per month
StarterEvaluation and a handful of users Odoo application server (16 cloudlets, 2 GiB), PostgreSQL database (8 cloudlets, 1 GiB) 24 $59.04
StandardA company in daily use Odoo application server (32 cloudlets, 4 GiB), PostgreSQL database (16 cloudlets, 2 GiB) 48 $118.08
ProductionMonth-end load and many users NGINX load balancer (4 cloudlets, 512 MiB), 2 × Odoo application server (32 cloudlets, 4 GiB each), PostgreSQL database (24 cloudlets, 3 GiB) 92 $226.32

Estimates assume the environment averages the listed cloudlets around the clock; billing is hourly, vertical auto-scaling lowers the figure when the application is idle, and volume discounts apply as usage grows. Disk and external traffic are billed per gigabyte on top. No licence fee applies to the package. Price a different topology or a working-hours schedule in the PaaS pricing calculator.

Odoo Online vs self-hosted Odoo Community on MassiveGRID PaaS vs a VPS

Leaving Odoo Online: questions

Yes. Odoo Community is open source under the LGPL with no per-user licence; on MassiveGRID PaaS you pay for the environment, from about $59.04 a month. Odoo Online's Standard plan was listed at $24.90 to $31.10 per user per month yearly on 1 November 2026.
Yes, with an Odoo Enterprise subscription, which Odoo's Custom plan sells with an on-premise hosting option; it runs on this environment and is licensed by Odoo.
Download a backup with the filestore from the Odoo Online database manager and restore it on the environment through Odoo's database manager; match the Odoo version or use Odoo's upgrade service, then reconnect mail, API keys and the domain.
You do, with the platform's tools: the Database Backup/Restore add-on dumps PostgreSQL on a schedule, an environment clone rehearses upgrades and module changes, and the Odoo node redeploys to a newer release when you choose.
For a small company with no customisation and no IT owner, especially under ten users where the seat price is small, and for teams that want Odoo Enterprise apps with Odoo accountable for the hosting. The comparison table on this page says so.
