WordPress Standalone on MassiveGRID PaaS

The WordPress Standalone Kit installs a production-ready single-server WordPress site on MassiveGRID PaaS in one click. You choose the web server (LiteSpeed, LLSMP or NGINX), get MariaDB, free SSL and automatic vertical scaling, and pay only for the resources the site actually uses.

Both buttons open the MassiveGRID PaaS dashboard with WordPress Standalone pre-selected. The trial needs no credit card.

What is WordPress Standalone?

WordPress powers more than 40% of all websites, from personal blogs to enterprise publishing platforms. The Standalone Kit is the marketplace package for sites that do not yet need a multi-node cluster: it deploys one optimised application server with a local or separate MariaDB database, then layers on the operational extras that a self-managed install usually lacks, such as Let's Encrypt certificates, a CDN option and a web application firewall.

Unlike a shared hosting account, every kit environment is an isolated container with its own resources and root access. Unlike a raw VPS, you never install PHP, tune the web server or set up backups yourself. The installer asks a handful of questions and builds the environment, and the platform adds cloudlets automatically when traffic rises.

What the WordPress Standalone Package Deploys

Marketplace packages are not bare container images. One click provisions a complete, production-shaped environment on MassiveGRID infrastructure.

  • Application server: Your choice of LiteSpeed Web Server, LLSMP (LiteSpeed + MariaDB + PHP on one node) or NGINX with PHP-FPM, pre-tuned for WordPress with opcode caching enabled.
  • MariaDB database: Either on the same node (LLSMP) or as a separate database container that can later be turned into a replicated cluster.
  • WordPress core: The latest WordPress release with the WP-CLI command line tool installed, plus the vendor's cache plugin matched to the chosen web server.
  • Optional add-ons at install time: Let's Encrypt SSL for your own domain, the Lightning-Fast Premium CDN, a web application firewall and the WordPress backup add-on can all be ticked during installation.
  • Built-in domain and SSL: The environment is reachable immediately on a platform subdomain with SSL, so you can build the site before pointing your DNS at it.

Why Teams Choose WordPress Standalone

Server choice

LiteSpeed serves PHP pages several times faster than Apache under load and ships with LSCache; NGINX is the familiar open-source option. Pick whichever fits your team.

Vertical auto-scaling

Cloudlets are added and removed as traffic changes, so a viral post is served without a plan upgrade and a quiet month costs less.

One-click SSL and CDN

Free Let's Encrypt certificates renew automatically, and the CDN option pushes static assets to edge locations worldwide.

Upgrade path to a cluster

When a single server is no longer enough, the WordPress Cluster Kit offers the same kit interface with load balancing and database replication.

How to Install WordPress Standalone on MassiveGRID PaaS

Installing the package takes three steps and a few minutes of waiting. No servers to provision, no configuration files to edit.

01

Open the installer

Click Install with free trial or Install to my account. The MassiveGRID PaaS dashboard opens with the WordPress Standalone package pre-selected, so nothing has to be copied or pasted.

02

Sign up or sign in

New to the platform? Sign up for the free 14-day trial, which needs no credit card. Existing customers sign in with their usual dashboard credentials.

03

Choose region and deploy

Name the environment, pick New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore, and confirm. The platform builds every WordPress Standalone node, wires them together and hands you the live URL and credentials.

Who Runs WordPress Standalone on PaaS

Company websites and blogs

A marketing site or editorial blog that needs to stay fast under campaign traffic without paying for idle capacity.

Agencies hosting client sites

One environment per client, each isolated, each billed on its own usage, all managed from one dashboard.

Staging and development

Clone a production environment in one click, test a theme or plugin upgrade, and delete the copy when done.

Why Run WordPress Standalone on MassiveGRID PaaS

Built for uptime. WordPress Standalone runs on MassiveGRID's high-availability platform, where every environment is covered by a 100% uptime SLA. Nodes live on redundant hosts, storage is replicated, and failed containers are restarted or migrated automatically.

Pay for what you use. Billing is hourly and per cloudlet (128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU). Vertical auto-scaling adds and removes cloudlets as load changes, so a quiet WordPress Standalone environment costs a few dollars a month and a busy one grows without a migration. Full details are on the PaaS page.

Your choice of jurisdiction. Deploy in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore and keep data inside the region your users or regulators require. MassiveGRID is ISO 9001 certified and GDPR compliant, and has run hosting infrastructure since 2003.

No lock-in. The package is a standard Jelastic Packaging Standard (JPS) manifest. You keep root-level access to the containers, can export the manifest, and can move the workload to any other Jelastic-compatible platform or to your own servers at any time.

WordPress Standalone Questions

LiteSpeed is the fastest option for PHP and includes the LSCache plugin, which most WordPress benchmarks favour. LLSMP bundles LiteSpeed, MariaDB and PHP on one node, which is the cheapest topology for small sites. NGINX with PHP-FPM is the fully open-source choice and is easy to extend with custom configuration. All three can be swapped later by redeploying the node.
Yes. Install the kit, then import your files and database using WP-CLI, a migration plugin such as Duplicator or All-in-One WP Migration, or plain SFTP and phpMyAdmin. MassiveGRID support can also assist with migrations under a support plan.
The Standalone Kit runs one application server and one database. The Cluster Kit adds a load balancer, several application servers with synchronised files, and a replicated MariaDB cluster, which gives high availability and horizontal scaling. Standalone is cheaper and simpler; the cluster is for sites that cannot tolerate downtime or need to serve very high traffic.
No. The PaaS kit gives you a self-service environment that you administer. High-Availability WordPress Hosting is a fully managed service where MassiveGRID engineers run the stack, apply updates and handle incidents for you.
There is no licence fee for the package. You pay only for the resources the WordPress Standalone environment consumes, billed hourly in cloudlets of 128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU. A single-node environment starts at $2.46 per month, or $0.003372 per hour, and clustered topologies cost more because they run more nodes. See the PaaS pricing page for details.
MassiveGRID PaaS runs in four regions: New York, London, Frankfurt and Singapore. You pick the region in the installer, and every environment is covered by the 100% uptime SLA. Read more about our data centres and network.
Yes. New accounts get a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. Click Install with free trial above, sign up, and the installer opens with WordPress Standalone already selected. Trial environments can be scaled, tested and deleted freely, and they convert to pay-per-use billing only when you add a payment method.
