The WordPress Backup/Restore add-on attaches to a WordPress environment on MassiveGRID PaaS and backs up both the application root directory and the database to a separate Backup Storage node on a schedule you choose. Restoring a site, including after a hack or a broken update, is one click from the dashboard.

Both buttons open the MassiveGRID PaaS dashboard with WordPress Backup/Restore pre-selected. The trial needs no credit card.

What is WordPress Backup/Restore?

Platform snapshots protect whole environments, but WordPress sites need application-level backups too: a copy of the files and database that can be restored to a specific point without rolling back the entire server, kept on separate storage so a compromised site cannot destroy its own backups. Plugins can do this, but they run inside the site they protect and consume its resources.

This add-on runs outside the application. It dumps the database, archives the WordPress directory, and copies both to a Backup Storage node with retention you configure. It supports the WordPress Standalone Kit, the WordPress Cluster Kit and the multi-region packages, and understands the cluster's shared storage and replicated database.

What WordPress Backup/Restore Changes in Your Environment

Add-ons run against an environment you already have. Nothing is rebuilt, and the change can be removed from the same dashboard.

  • Scheduled backup job: A cron-driven task on the WordPress environment that runs at the times and timezone you set.
  • File and database archive: The WordPress root directory and a consistent database dump, compressed and named by timestamp.
  • Transfer to Backup Storage: Archives copied to a separate Backup Storage node, isolated from the site.
  • One-click restore: Choose a backup from the list and restore files, database or both from the dashboard.

Why Teams Choose WordPress Backup/Restore

Off-site by design

Backups live on a different node, so a compromised or deleted site cannot take its backups with it.

No plugin overhead

Runs outside WordPress; no PHP memory or execution time limits, no impact on visitors.

Cluster-aware

Works with standalone, clustered and multi-region WordPress packages.

Flexible schedule and retention

Hourly to weekly backups in your timezone, with a configurable number of copies kept.

How to Add WordPress Backup/Restore on MassiveGRID PaaS

Attaching the add-on takes three steps and a few minutes of waiting. No servers to provision, no configuration files to edit.

01

Open the installer

Click Install with free trial or Install to my account. The MassiveGRID PaaS dashboard opens with the WordPress Backup/Restore add-on pre-selected, so nothing has to be copied or pasted.

Who Runs WordPress Backup/Restore on PaaS

Any production WordPress site

Recovering from bad plugin updates, content mistakes and compromises.

Agencies

A consistent backup policy across every client site, all landing on one storage node.

WooCommerce stores

Frequent backups so an incident loses minutes of orders, not days.

Why Run WordPress Backup/Restore on MassiveGRID PaaS

Built for uptime. WordPress Backup/Restore runs on MassiveGRID's high-availability platform, where every environment is covered by a 100% uptime SLA. Nodes live on redundant hosts, storage is replicated, and failed containers are restarted or migrated automatically.

Pay for what you use. Billing is hourly and per cloudlet (128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU). Vertical auto-scaling adds and removes cloudlets as load changes, so a quiet WordPress Backup/Restore environment costs a few dollars a month and a busy one grows without a migration. Full details are on the PaaS page.

Your choice of jurisdiction. Deploy in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore and keep data inside the region your users or regulators require. MassiveGRID is ISO 9001 certified and GDPR compliant, and has run hosting infrastructure since 2003.

No lock-in. The package is a standard Jelastic Packaging Standard (JPS) manifest. You keep root-level access to the containers, can export the manifest, and can move the workload to any other Jelastic-compatible platform or to your own servers at any time.
