Jenkins on MassiveGRID PaaS

The Jenkins DevOps Pack deploys a Jenkins controller with a set of auto-scaling build agents and pre-installed plugins on MassiveGRID PaaS. It gives teams a ready-to-use continuous integration and delivery server whose build capacity expands during busy periods and contracts when the queue is empty.

Both buttons open the MassiveGRID PaaS dashboard with Jenkins pre-selected. The trial needs no credit card.

What is Jenkins?

Jenkins is the most widely deployed open-source automation server, with more than 1,800 plugins covering every language, SCM, cloud and deployment target. Its Pipeline-as-code lets teams define builds in a Jenkinsfile alongside their source. The challenge is capacity: a single Jenkins box either sits idle or becomes a bottleneck on release day.

The package solves that with a controller node plus agent nodes that scale horizontally on load. Common plugins for Git, Docker, Maven, Gradle, Node.js and deployment are installed, and the agents come ready to run jobs. Pipelines can deploy to other MassiveGRID PaaS environments through the platform API.

What the Jenkins Package Deploys

Marketplace packages are not bare container images. One click provisions a complete, production-shaped environment on MassiveGRID infrastructure.

  • Jenkins controller: The Jenkins server with the web UI, job configuration and pipeline engine, on persistent storage.
  • Auto-scaling agents: Build agent nodes connected to the controller, added and removed on load triggers so jobs rarely queue.
  • Pre-installed plugins: Git, Pipeline, Docker, build tools and deployment plugins configured so common jobs work without setup.
  • Built-in domain and SSL: HTTPS access to the Jenkins UI immediately; attach your own domain via Let's Encrypt.

Why Teams Choose Jenkins

Elastic build farm

Agent count follows the queue, so heavy release days get capacity and idle nights cost almost nothing.

Pipeline as code

Declarative and scripted pipelines from Jenkinsfiles, with shared libraries and multibranch support.

Plugin ecosystem

Integrate any SCM, artefact store, test framework or cloud through Jenkins' huge plugin catalogue.

Deploy to PaaS

Use the platform CLI or API from pipelines to redeploy applications running on MassiveGRID PaaS.

How to Install Jenkins on MassiveGRID PaaS

Installing the package takes three steps and a few minutes of waiting. No servers to provision, no configuration files to edit.

01

Open the installer

Click Install with free trial or Install to my account. The MassiveGRID PaaS dashboard opens with the Jenkins package pre-selected, so nothing has to be copied or pasted.

02

Sign up or sign in

New to the platform? Sign up for the free 14-day trial, which needs no credit card. Existing customers sign in with their usual dashboard credentials.

03

Choose region and deploy

Name the environment, pick New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore, and confirm. The platform builds every Jenkins node, wires them together and hands you the live URL and credentials.

Who Runs Jenkins on PaaS

Teams standardising on Jenkins

Organisations with existing Jenkinsfiles that want managed infrastructure under them.

Java and JVM builds

Maven and Gradle projects with long compile and test phases that benefit from parallel agents.

Mixed tool-chain CI

Shops building Node.js, Python, PHP and Docker images from one server.

Why Run Jenkins on MassiveGRID PaaS

Built for uptime. Jenkins runs on MassiveGRID's high-availability platform, where every environment is covered by a 100% uptime SLA. Nodes live on redundant hosts, storage is replicated, and failed containers are restarted or migrated automatically.

Pay for what you use. Billing is hourly and per cloudlet (128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU). Vertical auto-scaling adds and removes cloudlets as load changes, so a quiet Jenkins environment costs a few dollars a month and a busy one grows without a migration. Full details are on the PaaS page.

Your choice of jurisdiction. Deploy in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore and keep data inside the region your users or regulators require. MassiveGRID is ISO 9001 certified and GDPR compliant, and has run hosting infrastructure since 2003.

No lock-in. The package is a standard Jelastic Packaging Standard (JPS) manifest. You keep root-level access to the containers, can export the manifest, and can move the workload to any other Jelastic-compatible platform or to your own servers at any time.

Jenkins Questions

Jenkins is a dedicated automation server that works with any Git host and has an unmatched plugin catalogue. GitLab bundles CI with repositories and issues in one application. If your code is already in GitLab, its CI is simpler; if you need flexibility or use several SCMs, Jenkins is stronger.
Use Jenkins' built-in credentials store, which encrypts secrets on the controller's persistent disk. The controller runs in your private environment, and access can be restricted to specific IPs or a VPN via the OpenVPN package.
Yes. The agent nodes have Docker available so pipelines can build and push images, and the Docker Pipeline plugin is installed.
There is no licence fee for the package. You pay only for the resources the Jenkins environment consumes, billed hourly in cloudlets of 128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU. A single-node environment starts at $2.46 per month, or $0.003372 per hour, and clustered topologies cost more because they run more nodes. See the PaaS pricing page for details.
MassiveGRID PaaS runs in four regions: New York, London, Frankfurt and Singapore. You pick the region in the installer, and every environment is covered by the 100% uptime SLA. Read more about our data centres and network.
Yes. New accounts get a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. Click Install with free trial above, sign up, and the installer opens with Jenkins already selected. Trial environments can be scaled, tested and deleted freely, and they convert to pay-per-use billing only when you add a payment method.
