Couchbase Cluster on MassiveGRID PaaS
The Auto-Scalable Couchbase CE Cluster deploys Couchbase Server Community Edition as a multi-node cluster with load balancing and auto-scaling already configured. It gives you a distributed NoSQL document database with built-in caching, N1QL SQL-style queries and cross-node replication, ready for high-throughput applications.

What is Couchbase Cluster?
Couchbase is a distributed NoSQL database that merges a memory-first key-value store with JSON document storage, SQL-like querying (N1QL, now SQL++), full-text search and mobile sync. It is used for session stores, user profiles, catalogues and real-time applications where sub-millisecond reads at scale matter. Nodes are homogeneous, so scaling is a matter of adding servers and rebalancing.
The package deploys the nodes, joins them into a cluster, configures replication and a load-balanced entry point, and attaches auto-scaling triggers so the cluster grows under load. Rebalancing after a scale event is handled for you.
What the Couchbase Cluster Package Deploys
Marketplace packages are not bare container images. One click provisions a complete, production-shaped environment on MassiveGRID infrastructure.
- Couchbase Server nodes: Multiple Couchbase Community Edition containers joined into one cluster with data replication between them.
- Load-balanced entry point: A balancer in front of the cluster so applications connect to one address.
- Auto-scaling triggers: Horizontal scaling adds nodes when CPU or memory thresholds are crossed and rebalances the cluster.
- Web console: The Couchbase administration console reachable over HTTPS for buckets, indexes and monitoring.
Why Teams Choose Couchbase Cluster
Memory-first performance
Integrated cache delivers sub-millisecond reads for hot data without a separate caching layer.
SQL for JSON
Query documents with N1QL/SQL++, build secondary indexes and run full-text search.
Elastic and rebalancing
Add or remove nodes and Couchbase redistributes data automatically; the platform triggers this on load.
Community Edition, free to run
No licence cost; pay only for the cloudlets the nodes consume.
How to Install Couchbase Cluster on MassiveGRID PaaS
Installing the package takes three steps and a few minutes of waiting. No servers to provision, no configuration files to edit.

Choose region and deploy
Name the environment, pick New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore, and confirm. The platform builds every Couchbase Cluster node, wires them together and hands you the live URL and credentials.
Who Runs Couchbase Cluster on PaaS
Session and profile stores
Web and mobile back ends that need fast, replicated user state.
Product catalogues and content
JSON-heavy applications with flexible schemas and rich queries.
Real-time analytics and gaming
Workloads with very high read/write rates that must stay fast as they grow.
Why Run Couchbase Cluster on MassiveGRID PaaS
Built for uptime. Couchbase Cluster runs on MassiveGRID's high-availability platform, where every environment is covered by a 100% uptime SLA. Nodes live on redundant hosts, storage is replicated, and failed containers are restarted or migrated automatically.
Pay for what you use. Billing is hourly and per cloudlet (128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU). Vertical auto-scaling adds and removes cloudlets as load changes, so a quiet Couchbase Cluster environment costs a few dollars a month and a busy one grows without a migration. Full details are on the PaaS page.
Your choice of jurisdiction. Deploy in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore and keep data inside the region your users or regulators require. MassiveGRID is ISO 9001 certified and GDPR compliant, and has run hosting infrastructure since 2003.
No lock-in. The package is a standard Jelastic Packaging Standard (JPS) manifest. You keep root-level access to the containers, can export the manifest, and can move the workload to any other Jelastic-compatible platform or to your own servers at any time.
