What is DokuWiki?
DokuWiki was designed for documentation: team handbooks, IT runbooks, project wikis and knowledge bases. Because pages are text files on disk, the whole wiki can be backed up by copying a directory, versioned with Git, and read without any special tooling. It supports namespaces, page revisions with diffs, access control lists, and more than a thousand plugins and templates.
The marketplace package deploys DokuWiki on a PHP application server with persistent storage for the data directory. It is one of the smallest environments in the marketplace, so it is a natural fit for pay-per-use billing: a documentation wiki for a small team costs a few dollars a month.
What the DokuWiki Package Deploys
Marketplace packages are not bare container images. One click provisions a complete, production-shaped environment on MassiveGRID infrastructure.
- PHP application server: Apache or NGINX with PHP-FPM and the extensions DokuWiki uses for image handling and compression.
- Persistent data directory: Pages, revisions, media and configuration stored as files on persistent storage with snapshot support.
- DokuWiki core: The current DokuWiki release with the installer ready for you to create the admin account.
- Built-in domain and SSL: Immediate HTTPS on a platform subdomain, with your own domain via Let's Encrypt.
Why Teams Choose DokuWiki
No database
Nothing to tune, corrupt or migrate. Backups are a directory copy and the wiki can be mirrored with rsync or Git.
Access control lists
Per-namespace read and edit permissions, with authentication back ends for LDAP, Active Directory and OAuth.
Readable syntax and revisions
A clean markup language, full revision history with diffs, and search that indexes every page.
Minimal footprint
Runs comfortably on a single cloudlet, making it one of the cheapest environments to keep online all year.

Why Run DokuWiki on MassiveGRID PaaS
Built for uptime. DokuWiki runs on MassiveGRID's high-availability platform, where every environment is covered by a 100% uptime SLA. Nodes live on redundant hosts, storage is replicated, and failed containers are restarted or migrated automatically.
Pay for what you use. Billing is hourly and per cloudlet (128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU). Vertical auto-scaling adds and removes cloudlets as load changes, so a quiet DokuWiki environment costs a few dollars a month and a busy one grows without a migration. Full details are on the PaaS page.
Your choice of jurisdiction. Deploy in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore and keep data inside the region your users or regulators require. MassiveGRID is ISO 9001 certified and GDPR compliant, and has run hosting infrastructure since 2003.
No lock-in. The package is a standard Jelastic Packaging Standard (JPS) manifest. You keep root-level access to the containers, can export the manifest, and can move the workload to any other Jelastic-compatible platform or to your own servers at any time.
