The Microsoft 365 Price Increase, and What to Do About It

From 1 July 2026 Microsoft raised Business Basic from about $6 to $7 and Business Standard from about $12.50 to $14 per user per month, with Business Premium staying at about $22; new subscriptions pay the new price at once and existing ones at their next annual renewal. The no-Teams variants sold in Europe moved too. For a 20-person company on Business Standard that is $360 more a year. This page shows the arithmetic and the alternative: MassiveGRID's Nextcloud Hub at $5.90, $12.90 and $19.90 with the data in the region you choose.

The part that is not about price

Copilot, Teams and the tenant

Microsoft paired the increase with Copilot Chat features and more mailbox storage, and the EEA unbundling means European companies choose between with-Teams and without-Teams SKUs at renewal. Both are reasons to ask what the tenant is for. Our Copilot page covers what Copilot sees and how to limit it, the Teams alternative page covers chat and calls, and the plan-by-plan comparison says where Microsoft still wins, which it does on desktop Excel and the security bundle.
