How a mail migration works

Mailboxes copy over IMAP, calendars and contacts move as iCal and vCard exports, phones and desktop clients are reconfigured, and MX records switch at a time you choose with the old mailboxes still receiving in parallel until you are sure. The Microsoft 365 migration guide covers the sequence and the migration service runs it for you, with the old tenant kept read-only for 30 days.
