Spring Boot Cluster on MassiveGRID PaaS

The Auto-Scalable Spring Boot Cluster deploys Spring Boot applications as executable JARs on several Java Engine nodes behind an NGINX load balancer, with auto-scaling triggers and built-in SSL. It is the fastest route from a Spring Boot repository to a load-balanced, highly available deployment on MassiveGRID PaaS.

Both buttons open the MassiveGRID PaaS dashboard with Spring Boot Cluster pre-selected. The trial needs no credit card.

What is Spring Boot Cluster?

Spring Boot is the dominant framework for Java microservices and web applications, packaging an embedded server so applications run as a single JAR. Production still needs more than one instance for availability, a balancer to spread traffic, SSL termination and a way to add capacity under load. This package provides that topology pre-configured.

Each Java Engine node runs your JAR with a JVM sized to its cloudlets. NGINX in front distributes requests and terminates SSL with the platform's built-in certificate. When CPU or memory thresholds are crossed, the platform adds nodes, deploys the same JAR and updates the balancer. A sample application is deployed so the cluster is verifiably working before you push your own build.

What the Spring Boot Cluster Package Deploys

Marketplace packages are not bare container images. One click provisions a complete, production-shaped environment on MassiveGRID infrastructure.

  • Java Engine nodes: Two or more lightweight Java containers running your Spring Boot JAR, scaled horizontally on load.
  • NGINX load balancer: SSL termination and request distribution with health checks and optional sticky sessions.
  • Built-in SSL: HTTPS on the platform subdomain from the first minute (available for verified accounts), with Let's Encrypt for custom domains.
  • Sample application and deployment hooks: A running sample so you can test immediately, plus dashboard and Git deployment for your own builds.

Why Teams Choose Spring Boot Cluster

JAR in, cluster out

Upload or Git-deploy an executable JAR; the platform runs it on every node.

Horizontal auto-scaling

Instance count follows load, with the balancer updated automatically.

Stateless-friendly

Pair with a Redis cluster for shared sessions and caching across instances.

Build on the platform

Use the Fat Jar or Thin Jar builder packages to compile from source, then promote the artefact to the cluster.

How to Install Spring Boot Cluster on MassiveGRID PaaS

Installing the package takes three steps and a few minutes of waiting. No servers to provision, no configuration files to edit.

01

Open the installer

Click Install with free trial or Install to my account. The MassiveGRID PaaS dashboard opens with the Spring Boot Cluster package pre-selected, so nothing has to be copied or pasted.

02

Sign up or sign in

New to the platform? Sign up for the free 14-day trial, which needs no credit card. Existing customers sign in with their usual dashboard credentials.

03

Choose region and deploy

Name the environment, pick New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore, and confirm. The platform builds every Spring Boot Cluster node, wires them together and hands you the live URL and credentials.

Who Runs Spring Boot Cluster on PaaS

REST APIs and microservices

Spring Boot services that must stay up and scale with request volume.

Web applications with Thymeleaf or SPA front ends

Customer-facing apps needing redundancy and SSL without container orchestration.

Teams avoiding Kubernetes

Java shops that want load-balanced deployments with a simpler operational model.

Why Run Spring Boot Cluster on MassiveGRID PaaS

Built for uptime. Spring Boot Cluster runs on MassiveGRID's high-availability platform, where every environment is covered by a 100% uptime SLA. Nodes live on redundant hosts, storage is replicated, and failed containers are restarted or migrated automatically.

Pay for what you use. Billing is hourly and per cloudlet (128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU). Vertical auto-scaling adds and removes cloudlets as load changes, so a quiet Spring Boot Cluster environment costs a few dollars a month and a busy one grows without a migration. Full details are on the PaaS page.

Your choice of jurisdiction. Deploy in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore and keep data inside the region your users or regulators require. MassiveGRID is ISO 9001 certified and GDPR compliant, and has run hosting infrastructure since 2003.

No lock-in. The package is a standard Jelastic Packaging Standard (JPS) manifest. You keep root-level access to the containers, can export the manifest, and can move the workload to any other Jelastic-compatible platform or to your own servers at any time.

Spring Boot Cluster Questions

Upload the JAR through the dashboard's deployment manager, or connect a Git repository and let the platform build and deploy on push. The same artefact is rolled out to every node.
Spring Boot apps are usually stateless behind a balancer. If you use HTTP sessions, enable sticky sessions on NGINX or store sessions in Redis with Spring Session.
A current LTS JDK by default, changeable from the dashboard to match your build's target version.
There is no licence fee for the package. You pay only for the resources the Spring Boot Cluster environment consumes, billed hourly in cloudlets of 128 MiB RAM plus 400 MHz CPU. A single-node environment starts at $2.46 per month, or $0.003372 per hour, and clustered topologies cost more because they run more nodes. See the PaaS pricing page for details.
MassiveGRID PaaS runs in four regions: New York, London, Frankfurt and Singapore. You pick the region in the installer, and every environment is covered by the 100% uptime SLA. Read more about our data centres and network.
Yes. New accounts get a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. Click Install with free trial above, sign up, and the installer opens with Spring Boot Cluster already selected. Trial environments can be scaled, tested and deleted freely, and they convert to pay-per-use billing only when you add a payment method.
