Short answer: Nextcloud hosting comes in three shapes. Per-user managed suites (MassiveGRID Nextcloud Hub, Nextcloud's own hosted service) bundle files, office, chat and support into one price per seat. Storage-priced managed instances (Hetzner Storage Share, IONOS) charge for a server of a given size and let you add as many users as it will carry. VPS templates and Nextcloud All-in-One give you the software for the price of the machine and leave the running of it to you. This guide sets the three side by side, with the prices, regions and limits we could verify in October 2026, so you can match a provider to the size and skills of your team.

How to read this comparison

Searching for "Nextcloud hosting" returns a mix of products that are not really competing with each other. A managed suite priced per user, a Nextcloud instance priced by disk size and a VPS with Nextcloud pre-installed solve different problems for different buyers, and the cheapest option on paper is often the most expensive once you count the hours. So rather than rank ten hosts in a single list, this guide groups them by model and scores each on the five things that decide whether a team is happy a year later:

Prices below are the providers' published figures at the time of writing, before discounts and excluding VAT, and every one of them changes; check the provider's own page before you decide. MassiveGRID's own plans are included, and we have tried to be as plain about their limits as about everyone else's.

Two things stand out from the table. First, the per-user products are the only ones where the price already contains support and the full suite; everything else is a file server you build up. Second, the storage-priced products are strongest for small teams that need a lot of disk and little else: 1 TB for roughly the price of one Starter seat is hard to beat if files are the whole requirement.

Per-user managed suites

This is the model Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 made familiar: one price per person per month, everything included, no server to think about. On Nextcloud it comes in two flavours.

MassiveGRID Nextcloud Hub runs on a shared Nextcloud Enterprise Ultimate platform operated by MassiveGRID. The Starter plan at $5.90 per user per month includes Files, Photos, Nextcloud Office, Talk, a Standard Email mailbox, Calendar and Contacts with 100 GB per user. Business at $12.90 adds Notes, Tables, Deck and Tasks, raises storage to 1 TB per user and moves support to priority. Enterprise at $19.90 swaps in Enterprise Email and 24x7 support. You pick the region at checkout (United States, Europe, United Kingdom or Asia), order 1 to 50 users online, and longer billing cycles take 5% to 40% off. The limits are real: no custom domain on the shared platform, and above 50 users you move to a dedicated Nextcloud Enterprise instance, which starts from $15.22 per user per month with hosting and is quoted rather than ordered online. Our Nextcloud Hub pricing guide goes through every line of that.

Nextcloud One is Nextcloud GmbH's own hosted offer for organisations with fewer than 100 users, the size below which it does not sell Enterprise subscriptions directly. It is priced per user and hosted in Europe. You are buying from the software's maker, which some procurement teams value, at a seat price that was in the mid-teens of euros per month when we checked. If your organisation is already above 100 users, Nextcloud will point you at an Enterprise subscription instead, which you then host yourself or through a partner.

Who it suits: teams of 3 to 50 who are leaving Google or Microsoft and want the same buying experience, no IT project, and someone to call. Who it does not: a team that only needs a big shared drive, which a storage-priced instance serves more cheaply.

Storage-priced managed instances

Hetzner Storage Share is the best-known product in this group and the clearest example of the model. You rent a Nextcloud instance sized by disk: NX11 with 1 TB, NX21 with 5 TB, NX31 with 10 TB, all with unlimited traffic and unlimited user accounts, and each capped at 50, 100 or 200 simultaneous connections respectively. The NX11 was listed at about €4.29 per month excluding VAT in early 2026. Hetzner backs the database and storage up several times a day to a different host, there is no minimum contract, and the instance lives in Hetzner's Falkenstein datacenter in Germany. Contacts, Calendar and Tasks are pre-installed and more apps can be added from the App Store. What the page does not promise is an office suite, video calls or mailboxes, an uptime SLA, or any region other than Germany, so check those before you commit a company to it. Our Storage Share vs Nextcloud Hub comparison works through a 5-user and a 25-user example.

IONOS Managed Nextcloud follows a similar pattern with plans that bundle a number of users and an amount of storage, hosted in IONOS's German datacenters. Its published prices change often enough that we would rather you read them on the IONOS page than from us.

Who it suits: small teams and families with heavy file needs and light collaboration needs, and anyone for whom "hosted in Germany" is the requirement. Who it does not: teams that need the data in the U.K., the U.S. or Asia, or that expect chat, video and email in the same bill.

Self-managed VPS templates and Nextcloud All-in-One

Hostinger, Contabo and most VPS providers now offer a one-click Nextcloud image, and Nextcloud's own All-in-One (AIO) container bundles the server, database, Office, Talk and backup into one install on any Docker host. The server itself costs from about €5 a month, and the software is free. What you are paying with is time: operating system patches, PHP and database upgrades, TLS renewal, backup rotation, restore tests, performance tuning and the Nextcloud major upgrade every few months, since the community branch of each release is maintained for roughly a year. Our AIO vs manual installation guide covers the install side, and the three-year TCO analysis puts a number on the hours.

Who it suits: teams with a Linux administrator who enjoys the work, labs, and organisations that need total control over the stack. Who it does not: anyone who would be doing this on top of a day job, which is where self-hosting quietly turns into the most expensive option. The managed vs self-hosted cost comparison shows where the break-even sits.

Six questions to ask any Nextcloud host

  1. Where exactly does the data live, and can I choose? A single German datacenter is a feature for a German company and a problem for a British or Singaporean one. MassiveGRID lets you pick U.S., E.U., U.K. or Asia at checkout; most storage-priced products offer one location.
  2. Community branch or Nextcloud Enterprise? The Enterprise branch is what Nextcloud certifies and maintains for years on Premium and Ultimate subscriptions; community releases get about a year. Our Enterprise vs Community guide explains what that means in practice.
  3. What is in the price? Office, Talk, email, calendar and contacts, or files only? Add the cost of whatever is missing before comparing seat prices.
  4. Backups: how often, kept how long, and have they been restored? MassiveGRID's Hub plans keep encrypted daily backups for 30 days in a separate datacenter; ask every provider the same question.
  5. Support hours and what the SLA covers. Ticket-only during business hours is fine for a 5-person team and not for a 200-person one. MassiveGRID's Enterprise plan is 24x7, and the platform carries a 100% uptime SLA.
  6. How do we leave? Nextcloud speaks WebDAV, CalDAV, CardDAV and IMAP, and Hub 26 Winter added export and import between instances, so any honest host should make leaving boring. If a provider cannot describe the exit, that is your answer.

If you are still undecided between the first row and the last, the fastest test is to order a Nextcloud Hub plan for a month (the first month is $1 with the coupon code on the pricing page), move one project onto it, and see whether anyone misses the server they did not have to build.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest way to host Nextcloud for a team?

For a handful of users who need storage more than collaboration, a storage-priced instance such as Hetzner Storage Share NX11 (1 TB, about €4.29 per month ex VAT at the time of writing) is the cheapest managed option. For a team that wants office, chat, email and support included, MassiveGRID's Nextcloud Hub Starter at $5.90 per user per month is the lowest all-in price we know of, and the first month is $1 with the coupon on the pricing page. Self-hosting on a €5 VPS is cheaper in cash and more expensive in hours.

Is managed Nextcloud hosting worth it over self-hosting?

If nobody on the team is paid to run Linux servers, yes. A managed host takes on patching, backups, TLS, monitoring and the major upgrade every few months, and a per-user plan adds support and the full app suite. Our cost comparison finds the break-even at roughly the point where an administrator spends more than a few hours a month on it.

Which Nextcloud hosting providers let me choose the data region?

MassiveGRID's Hub plans offer the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom and Asia at checkout, and dedicated instances can go in any MassiveGRID datacenter. Hetzner Storage Share and IONOS are hosted in Germany. Self-managed options go wherever you rent the server.

Do Nextcloud hosting plans include Nextcloud Office and Talk?

Per-user suites do: every MassiveGRID Hub plan includes Nextcloud Office, Talk, email, Calendar and Contacts. Storage-priced instances usually ship files plus a few groupware apps, with office and video depending on what the provider supports. On a VPS you install them yourself, and Nextcloud All-in-One includes both as optional containers.

What happens when my team grows past 50 users?

On MassiveGRID the Hub plans are ordered online for 1 to 50 users; above that, or when you need your own domain and compliance boundary, the team moves you to a dedicated Nextcloud Enterprise instance, which is priced per user with hosting and support and billed annually. Storage-priced instances grow by upgrading to a bigger plan, within their simultaneous-connection limits.

Nextcloud hosting with everything included, from $5.90 per user

MassiveGRID's Nextcloud Hub plans run on Nextcloud Enterprise with files, office, email, chat and video calls in the price, in the U.S., E.U., U.K. or Asia. Order 1 to 50 users online; the first month is $1 with coupon code NEXTCLOUD.
