Short answer: MassiveGRID's Nextcloud Hub plans cost $5.90 (Starter), $12.90 (Business) or $19.90 (Enterprise) per user per month on monthly billing, before taxes. Every plan includes Files, Photos, Nextcloud Office, Talk, an email mailbox, Calendar and Contacts on a Nextcloud Enterprise platform, with updates and daily backups done for you. Paying for 3, 6, 12, 24 or 36 months takes 5%, 10%, 20%, 30% or 40% off, and the first month is $1 with coupon code NEXTCLOUD. Plans are ordered online for 1 to 50 users; beyond that, or when you need your own domain, a dedicated Nextcloud Enterprise instance starts at $15.22 per user per month with hosting. This guide walks through each line so there are no surprises on the invoice.

The three plans, line by line

Nextcloud Hub is sold the way Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are sold: one price per person per month, three tiers, everything in the tier included. The pricing page shows the live figures; this is what sits behind them.

Three things are worth noticing. The entry plan is not a crippled plan: Office, Talk and email are on Starter, where Google and Microsoft reserve some of the equivalents for higher tiers. The jump from Starter to Business is mostly storage (ten times as much) and the team apps, so a team that lives in Deck boards and Tables will feel it and a team that only shares files will not. And Enterprise does not add apps or storage over Business; it changes the mailbox class and the support hours, which is exactly the thing a 40-person company standardising on Nextcloud tends to need and a 6-person one does not.

How the billing-cycle discounts work

The per-user price drops with the length of the term you pay for up front. The discount applies to every plan and every seat on the order.

Billing cycleDiscountStarter per user per monthBusiness per user per monthEnterprise per user per month
1 monthnone$5.90$12.90$19.90
3 months5%$5.61$12.26$18.91
6 months10%$5.31$11.61$17.91
12 months20%$4.72$10.32$15.92
24 months30%$4.13$9.03$13.93
36 months40%$3.54$7.74$11.94

The practical advice is boring: take monthly for the first month or three while you migrate and let the team form an opinion, then switch to annual once you know the plan and the head count. Annual is the sweet spot for most companies because 20% is a meaningful saving and 12 months is a term a finance team will sign without a meeting. The 36-month rate turns a Starter seat into $3.54, which is less than most storage-only products charge, but only commit to it once the seat count has been stable for a year.

The $1 first month is a separate thing: order any plan on monthly billing, enter coupon code NEXTCLOUD at checkout, and the first month costs $1 for the whole team, after which the regular monthly price applies. The Order buttons on the pricing page carry the code over. Our trial and onboarding walkthrough covers what to do with that month.

Worked examples: 5, 20 and 50 users

Prices are per user per month before taxes, multiplied out so you can see what the invoice will say.

TeamPlanMonthly billingAnnual billing (20% off)Per year on annual
5-person studio, files and OfficeStarter$29.50 per month$23.60 per month$283.20
5-person studio, Deck and 1 TB eachBusiness$64.50 per month$51.60 per month$619.20
20-person agencyBusiness$258 per month$206.40 per month$2,476.80
50-person firm, 24x7 supportEnterprise$995 per month$796 per month$9,552
50-person firm, mixed: 10 Enterprise, 40 StarterMixed$435 per month$348 per month$4,176

The last row is the one people miss. Plans are chosen per order, not per organisation, so a firm can put its partners and finance team on Enterprise for the mailbox features and 24x7 support and everyone else on Starter. For comparison, the vendors' published list prices at the time of writing put a 20-person team on Google Workspace Business Standard at about $280 a month and on Microsoft 365 Business Standard at about $250, with the data in a provider-chosen region; the Nextcloud vs Microsoft 365 comparison runs the full three-year numbers.

What is not in the price

What is in the price and easy to overlook: TLS on every connection and AES-256 encryption of stored files and backups, two-factor authentication, desktop and mobile sync clients, public share links with passwords and expiry, and a platform with a 100% uptime SLA.

When a dedicated Nextcloud Enterprise instance pays off

A dedicated instance is the same Nextcloud Enterprise, run by the same operator, on infrastructure that is yours alone, with your domain and branding, your choice of subscription tier and add-ons, and a compliance boundary nobody else shares. It is priced per user per month, billed annually, from 50 users, and quoted rather than ordered online. The calculator on the pricing page builds the figure from three parts:

ComponentStandardPremiumUltimate
Nextcloud Enterprise licence (per user per month, annual)from $6.22from $9.17quoted
MassiveGRID hosting$9.00 per user per month
SupportStandard business hours included; Premium +$4.00; 24x7 +$14.00 per user per month
Add-ons per user per yearTalk $23.10; Groupware $16.50; Office $22.61
Maintenance lifecycle1 year5+ years5+ years
Reaction time2 business days1 business day1 business day, 24/7 optional
Starting point with hosting$15.22 per user per month$18.17 per user per monthquoted

So when does it pay off? Not on seat price alone: a Starter seat at $5.90 will always be cheaper than $15.22. It pays off when one of these is true:

  1. You are past 50 users. Then it is the product that exists for you.
  2. Your own domain is non-negotiable. Customer-facing share links on your domain, single sign-on from your directory, your branding on the login page.
  3. A regulator or an auditor will ask who else is on the box. Single tenancy answers that question in one word. Our GDPR-compliant Nextcloud Enterprise deployment guide covers what else they ask.
  4. You want the vendor's lifecycle. Premium and Ultimate carry a five-plus-year maintenance lifecycle and vendor-backed reaction times; the Hub platform gives you the Enterprise branch, but the subscription relationship is MassiveGRID's, not yours.
  5. You need Talk at scale, Groupware integrations, or the Ultimate extras (AI assistant, Flow, Whiteboard, Outlook and Exchange connectors), which are add-ons or Ultimate features on a dedicated instance.

If none of the five applies, stay on Hub plans and keep the difference. If one does, the Enterprise vs Community guide explains what the subscription tiers buy before you pick one, and the Sovereign Workspaces page describes the fully managed single-tenant deployment with mail, identity and security monitoring included.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Nextcloud Hub cost per user?

$5.90 per user per month for Starter, $12.90 for Business and $19.90 for Enterprise on monthly billing, before taxes. Annual billing is 20% off and 36-month billing is 40% off, which takes a Starter seat to $4.72 and $3.54 respectively. All three plans include files, office, email, chat and video calls.

Is there a free trial for Nextcloud Hub?

The first month is $1 for the whole team on any plan when you order on monthly billing with coupon code NEXTCLOUD, which the Order buttons on the pricing page apply for you. After that the regular per-user price applies, and you can change plan or cancel at any time.

What is the difference between the Business and Enterprise plans?

The apps and storage are identical: Files, Photos, Office, Talk, Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tables, Deck and Tasks with 1 TB per user. Enterprise replaces Standard Email with Enterprise Email, which adds delegation and the other enterprise mail features, and raises support from priority to 24x7. It costs $7 more per user per month.

Can I mix plans within one organisation?

Yes. Plans are chosen per order, so you can put the people who need Enterprise Email and 24x7 support on Enterprise and everyone else on Starter or Business. The billing-cycle discount applies to every order.

What does a dedicated Nextcloud Enterprise instance cost?

From $15.22 per user per month on the Standard tier with MassiveGRID hosting, billed annually, for 50 users or more. Premium starts at $18.17 with hosting. Support above business hours, the Ultimate tier and the Talk, Groupware and Office add-ons are priced on top, and the calculator on the pricing page builds the figure before you request a quote.
