A MassiveGRID MT5 VPS is a 64-bit Windows server from $2.87 per month in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore, close to the trade servers of most MetaTrader 5 brokers. Your terminals, MQL5 Expert Advisors and Python scripts run around the clock on a Proxmox HA cluster with NVMe storage, a 100% uptime SLA and a 15-day money-back guarantee, and the multi-core Strategy Tester gets every vCPU you give it.
MT5 is built for multi-asset, multi-strategy trading and for heavy testing. Both want a machine that is always on, always connected and sized for the job.
Whether your account nets positions or hedges them, the EA logic that manages them has to be awake when the market moves. The terminal stays logged in through every session and every rollover.
MT5 brokers keep their servers in the same Equinix campuses as MT4 brokers. A VPS in that city turns a cross-internet round trip into a metro hop, which matters most for stop and pending orders during news.
The MT5 tester splits an optimisation across every local core. Forex VPS plans scale to 24 vCPUs, so a genetic optimisation that takes a night on a laptop finishes over lunch.
The MetaTrader5 Python package talks to a running Windows terminal, so machine-learning models, data pulls and order routing from Python run on the same server as the terminal they drive.
Every MT5 VPS runs on a Proxmox HA cluster with NVMe storage replicated three times. If a node fails the VM restarts elsewhere within seconds; your terminal data and tick history survive.
Our 24/7 team, rated 9.5/10 by customers, helps with the first connection, the terminal install and the folder layout for several accounts. Setup help is included.
MetaTrader 5 is a 64-bit application and holds more in memory than MT4: deeper tick history, the Depth of Market, the economic calendar and the 21 timeframes. A terminal with a handful of charts and an EA or two typically needs more than an equivalent MT4 terminal, so budget 1 GB of RAM per terminal and more for tick-level strategies or long M1 histories. For live trading CPU is rarely the limit. For the Strategy Tester it is everything: each vCPU becomes a local testing agent, so an 8-vCPU plan runs an optimisation roughly eight times faster than a single core. Size for terminals first and add vCPUs for the testing you do.
| Plan | Resources | MT5 terminals | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forex VPS 1 | 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB NVMe | 1 | One account and its EAs, from $2.87/mo |
| Forex VPS 2 | 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB NVMe | 3 to 6 | Several accounts, copiers, light optimisation on four agents |
| Forex VPS 3 | 8 vCPU, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe | 8 to 12 | Signal providers, portfolio EAs, serious backtesting |
| Forex VPS 4 | 12 vCPU, 32 GB RAM, 512 GB NVMe | 15 or more | Multi-strategy desks, Python research alongside live terminals |
Choose Forex VPS Pro, the tier with dedicated CPU cores and a Windows Server licence included, when a backtest must not slow a live terminal or when a scalping EA needs its timing undisturbed by anything else on the host. Shared cores are fine for swing and trend systems and for research servers that carry no live accounts. The dedicated versus shared guide covers the trade-off.
MetaQuotes still distributes MetaTrader 5 directly, and most brokers also offer a branded installer with their servers pre-listed. Either runs on Windows Server as it does on Windows 11. If you use the MetaQuotes build, add your broker from the server search in the login dialog.
Your broker decides whether an account nets or hedges positions when it opens the account. The terminal on the VPS shows which mode applies in the account details, and EAs written for one mode need to be checked against the other, so match your EA to the account type before you let it trade unattended.
The Strategy Tester uses every core it is given, which is what you want for an optimisation and exactly what you do not want underneath a live scalper. On one server, run optimisations outside the sessions your EAs trade, or disable some local agents in the tester's Agents tab to leave headroom. Traders who test constantly keep a second, cheaper VPS for research and a Pro server for the live accounts.
The MetaTrader5 package for Python connects only to a Windows terminal running on the same machine, so install Python next to the terminal on the VPS. Models trained elsewhere can be loaded on the server to place orders through the terminal, with the same latency to the broker as the terminal itself.
Close the Remote Desktop window and everything keeps running. Sign out ends the session and closes the terminal. Add each terminal to the Windows startup folder so it returns logged in after any reboot, including an HA failover. The step-by-step MT5 setup guide covers the first connection, the install and the EA folders with screenshots.

Broker locations come from each broker's own published server information, checked in October 2026: IC Markets, FP Markets, Axi and Global Prime name Equinix NY4, FxPro, Admirals, Darwinex and BlackBull name LD4 or LD5, and FXTM names Frankfurt. Brokers move servers, and some run different platforms or entities in different cities, so check the server name and ping in your platform before you order. Broker not listed? Ask our support team in chat and we will tell you which city to pick.
Pick a plan by how many terminals you will run, add vCPUs for the Strategy Tester, and choose the billing term that suits you. The price on every card updates as you go.
Most traders are live within half an hour of ordering. The full walkthrough is in the setup guide below.
