Dokploy installs on any Linux server with 2 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk, which makes the hosting choice a pure infrastructure decision: price for the size you need, how predictable that price is, what happens when hardware fails, and whether builds stay fast. This comparison prices six providers on the same server, the 2 vCPU, 4 GB configuration our requirements guide recommends as the Dokploy minimum for production, using each provider's own pricing page on 31 October 2026. MassiveGRID is our product and is labelled as such; two popular providers are missing because their pages could not be fetched that day.
How we compared: one configuration (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, the provider's nearest NVMe or SSD size), monthly price on the shortest term the provider sells, renewal price where it differs, included traffic, whether the price includes IPv4, and the provider's published failover and support terms. Every figure is quoted from the provider's own page; "not stated" means the page does not say.
The six servers, side by side
| Provider and plan | vCPU / RAM / disk | Monthly price | Term and renewal | Traffic | Notes from the page |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| OVHcloud VPS-1 | 2 / 4 GB / 40 GB NVMe | From $4.54 | Monthly; "from" price | Unlimited at 500 Mbps | VPS 2027 range |
| Hetzner CX23 | 2 / 4 GB / 40 GB NVMe | €5.99 excl. VAT | Hourly or monthly | 20 TB | Price includes IPv4; marked "currently unavailable" on 31 October 2026 |
| Hostinger KVM 1 (closest: 1 vCPU / 4 GB) | 1 / 4 GB / 50 GB NVMe | $6.49 | 24 months upfront ($155.76), renews at $11.99 | 4 TB | KVM 2 (2 vCPU, 8 GB) is $8.79 on the same term, renewing at $14.99 |
| MassiveGRID Starter preset (our product) | 2 / 4 GB / 64 GB NVMe | $9.58 shared, $19.80 dedicated | Monthly; 5 to 40% off on 3 to 36 months | 1 TB (2 TB +$1, 10 TB +$9) | Proxmox HA failover, Ceph 3x storage, 15-day money back, installs Dokploy on request |
| DigitalOcean Basic Droplet | 2 / 4 GB / 80 GB SSD | $24 | Hourly ($0.03571) | 4,000 GiB | Regular CPU; Premium variants priced separately |
| Linode (Akamai) 4 GB | 2 / 4 GB / 80 GB | $24 | Hourly or monthly | 4 TB | Egress overage $0.005 per GB; some regions priced higher |
Not in the table: Contabo and Vultr returned HTTP 403 to our fetch on the day, so their figures are not quoted. Both sell servers in this class and Contabo markets a Dokploy-specific page.
What the price does and does not buy
Three things separate the cheap rows from the expensive ones more than the sticker price suggests.
Contract shape. Hostinger's headline is a 24-month prepayment with a renewal price almost twice as high; on a monthly basis its 4 GB plan is $11.99 and has one vCPU, which Dokploy builds will feel. OVHcloud and Hetzner are genuinely cheap on monthly terms. DigitalOcean and Linode are expensive for the size but bill hourly with no commitment.
What happens when hardware fails. A standard VPS lives on one physical host; when it dies the VM is down until the provider repairs or migrates it, and the published SLAs on the pages above do not promise otherwise. MassiveGRID runs VMs on a Proxmox cluster that migrates them to a healthy node and stores disks on Ceph with three replicas, with a 100 percent uptime SLA. For a Dokploy server that hosts the dashboard and every app on one machine, that is the difference between an incident and a log entry.
Shared or dedicated cores. Every row except one is shared CPU. Dokploy's Docker builds pin every core, and on a busy host they take minutes instead of seconds. MassiveGRID is the only provider in this table selling the same size with reserved cores ($19.80), which is what we recommend for production deploys; our shared vs dedicated post shows the measured variance.
Provider by provider
OVHcloud
Cheapest in the table at $4.54 for VPS-1 with unlimited traffic, and VPS-2 (4 vCPU, 8 GB, 75 GB) at $8.50 is the cheapest Growth-size server here. Where it falls short: 40 GB of disk fills quickly with Docker images, bandwidth is capped at 500 Mbps on VPS-1, and the price is a "from" figure that varies by region and term.
Hetzner
The developer favourite, and CX23 at €5.99 with 20 TB of traffic and IPv4 included is excellent value when it is in stock; on the day we checked every CX plan was marked unavailable. Hetzner's own resolvers are also the example in Dokploy's networking troubleshooting page for DNS failures inside Docker builds, with a documented fix. Locations are Germany, Finland, the US and Singapore.
Hostinger
Attractive promotional pricing and 4 to 8 GB of RAM for the money, but only on a 24-month prepayment, with renewal at $11.99 to $14.99. KVM 1 has a single vCPU; for Dokploy take KVM 2 ($8.79 on the term) to get two cores. Where it falls short: the renewal price and the long commitment.
MassiveGRID (our product)
$9.58 for the Starter preset is mid-table on price and the most generous on disk (64 GB NVMe), with the smallest included traffic (1 TB, upgradable). What you are paying for compared with the cheaper rows is the HA cluster, Ceph storage, 12 Tbps DDoS protection, 24/7 support that installs Dokploy for you on request, and the option of dedicated cores. Where it falls short: if you need 20 TB of traffic a month, Hetzner's allowance is far larger, and Singapore costs more than the other three cities.
DigitalOcean and Linode
Both charge $24 for the 2 vCPU, 4 GB server, two and a half times the MassiveGRID shared price and five times OVHcloud's, with 4 TB of traffic and hourly billing. You are paying for the ecosystem: snapshots, load balancers, managed databases and object storage next door, and documentation for everything. For a single Dokploy server the premium is hard to justify; for a team that already runs there, convenience may win.
Which to pick
- Lowest monthly bill, no commitment: OVHcloud VPS-1, or Hetzner CX23 when available.
- Production Dokploy on one server: MassiveGRID Starter or Growth on dedicated cores, for the failover, the replicated storage and steady builds. See the Dokploy hosting page for the preset configurator.
- You already live in a cloud ecosystem: DigitalOcean or Linode, accepting the price.
- You are certain for two years and want RAM per dollar: Hostinger KVM 2, with the renewal price written down.
Whatever you choose, the Dokploy install is the same one command, so the decision is reversible: Dokploy's instance backup restores to a new server, and the project's docs cover updating the server IP afterwards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which is the cheapest VPS that can run Dokploy?
Of the providers checked on 31 October 2026, OVHcloud VPS-1 (2 vCPU, 4 GB, 40 GB) at $4.54 a month, then Hetzner CX23 at €5.99 when it is in stock. The MassiveGRID Starter preset is $9.58 with 64 GB of NVMe and HA failover. Hostinger looks cheaper but requires a 24-month prepayment and renews higher.
Does Dokploy work on any VPS provider?
Yes, on any amd64 Linux server you can SSH into as root with at least 2 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk, and ports 80, 443 and 3000 free. The install command is the same everywhere. Provider-specific issues are rare; the one Dokploy documents is DNS resolution inside Docker builds on Hetzner, fixed by setting public resolvers in the Docker daemon config.
Should I pick a server near my users or near me?
Near your users, because the apps Dokploy deploys serve them. All six providers offer Europe and North America; MassiveGRID auto-provisions in New York, London, Frankfurt and Singapore. If you later add Swarm workers, keep them in one data center, since Swarm management traffic is latency-sensitive.
The Dokploy preset with HA failover: $9.58 a month
2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB NVMe, preset in the MassiveGRID configurator, $9.58 a month on shared cores or $19.80 dedicated. Proxmox HA failover, Ceph storage with three replicas, 12 Tbps DDoS protection, a 100% uptime SLA and a 15-day money-back guarantee. Open a ticket after ordering and we install Dokploy for you.
