Android Emulator VPS: LDPlayer, BlueStacks and MuMu on a Server That Stays On
A MassiveGRID Android emulator VPS is a Windows Server with CPU cores and RAM reserved for your instances, from $18.84 per month in New York, London, Frankfurt or Singapore. LDPlayer, BlueStacks, MuMu or Nox run around the clock, keep running when you close the Remote Desktop window, and scale by adding RAM per instance rather than by buying another PC. One thing to settle before you order: emulators need hardware virtualisation inside the VM, and this page tells you how that works here.
The virtualisation requirement: read this first
Every mainstream Android emulator is itself a virtual machine. LDPlayer, BlueStacks, MuMu and Nox all expect the CPU's hardware virtualisation extensions (Intel VT-x or AMD-V) to be visible inside Windows; without them they either refuse to start, fall back to software rendering that is too slow to use, or crash on launch. On a VPS that means nested virtualisation: the host passes the extensions through to your virtual machine so the emulator can create its own.
MassiveGRID's clusters run Proxmox on KVM with nested virtualisation enabled by default on every Windows VPS and Windows Dedicated VPS, so the extensions are visible inside Windows from the first boot and no support request is needed. Confirm with the emulator's own check (LDPlayer and BlueStacks both show whether "VT" is enabled in their settings) or with systeminfo, whose Hyper-V requirements lines report whether virtualisation is enabled in firmware. Check it before you install the first instance: a host that hides the extensions is the single most common reason an emulator farm does not work on a VPS, at any provider.
Two more limits are worth knowing. There is no GPU in a VPS, so rendering is done on the CPU; 2D games, idle games, app testing and automation run well, while graphically heavy 3D titles will be slow at any instance count. And every emulator instance is a full Android system, so RAM, not CPU, is what limits how many you can run.
Sizing an emulator server
The figures below match our Android emulators on a Windows VPS guide. Windows Server itself uses about 2 GB of RAM, and each emulator instance needs roughly 2 GB plus the CPU to run it; reserve cores, because a neighbour's load on a shared host shows up immediately as stutter inside the emulator.
| Setup | vCPU (reserved) | RAM | NVMe | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single instance | 2 | 4 GB minimum | 64 GB | Testing, one account, one game |
| 3 to 5 instances | 4 | 8 to 16 GB | 128 GB | Multi-account play, moderate automation |
| 10 or more instances | 8 or more | 32 GB or more | 256 GB or more | Farms and automated testing fleets |
The Windows Dedicated VPS toggle is preselected below and the 8 vCPU, 16 GB preset is highlighted; drag RAM up before CPU when you add instances, and add NVMe as each instance's Android image grows (plan 5 to 10 GB per instance with a few games installed). The plans go up to 64 vCPU and 256 GB of RAM in New York, London and Frankfurt (24 vCPU in Singapore), which is more instances than one Windows session can comfortably manage; past twenty or so, run a second server.
Configure Your Android Emulator VPS
Reserved cores are preselected and the 8 vCPU, 16 GB preset is highlighted for a 3 to 8 instance farm. Add RAM per instance and pick the city nearest to you; nested virtualisation is already enabled, so the emulators run from the first boot.
Running the farm: licences, RDP and keeping instances alive
Windows Server templates start on Microsoft's 180-day evaluation at no licence cost; add the licence at $6.31 per vCPU per month when the server outlives it, and the installation is converted in place. RDP is included with two admin sessions, so you and a partner can both manage instances, and the emulator's multi-instance manager (LDMultiPlayer, BlueStacks Multi-Instance Manager) runs inside the session like any other program. Close the RDP window, not the session, and every instance keeps running; the HA cluster restarts the whole server on another node if hardware fails, and your instances come back as the emulator's auto-start list brings them up.
Keep to the games' and apps' terms of service, which is your responsibility and not something the server changes, and expect some titles to detect emulators regardless of where they run. For automation across many accounts, the browser automation guide covers the scheduled-task pattern that also applies to emulator macros. Everything else about the server, from the cities to the licence, is the same as a standard MassiveGRID Windows VPS.
Windows licensing, kept simple
Three ways to run Windows on a Windows VPS, each one visible in the configurator before you order.
180-day Windows Server evaluation
Every Windows Server template (2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025) installs as Microsoft's evaluation build. Activate it online within the first 10 days and it runs fully featured for 180 days, with the days remaining shown on the desktop.
- After day 180 your data and software stay in place, but the server shuts down every hour until a licence is added.
- Adding the licence converts the installation in place. No reinstall.
Licence included
Choose "Licence +$6.31/vCPU" on any plan and the Windows Server licence is part of the order, with the amount shown as its own line in the card total. A 2 vCPU server adds $12.62 a month, a 4 vCPU server $25.24.
- Start on the evaluation and switch later: contact support and the server is converted without downtime for your data.
- Nothing to activate or report; the licence is handled on our side.
Windows 10 or 11 Pro: your own key
Windows 10 Pro and Windows 11 Pro templates are available under the evaluation option. They install unactivated, and you enter your own product key after the first login, because hosting providers cannot rent out desktop Windows licences.
- Windows 10 reached end of support on 14 October 2025; new servers should use Windows 11 Pro or Windows Server.
RDP included, two admin sessions
Every server comes with Remote Desktop enabled and the two administrative sessions Windows Server allows, so two people can work on it at the same time from Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS or Android clients.
- Need a team on one server? Additional RDP user licences cost $8.90 per user per month. See the multiple RDP users guide for the Remote Desktop Services setup.
Windows VPS, Dedicated VPS, managed or Forex: which one?
