100% Uptime SLA Unlimited Sites per Server From $9.58/mo

The Netlify Alternative for Static Sites and Frontends Without Credit Meters

Netlify moved to credit-based billing: Free is $0 with 300 credits, Personal $9 with 1,000, Pro $20 with 3,000 and unlimited members, and bandwidth costs 20 credits per GB, about $0.13, with compute, requests and even production deploys metered in credits (netlify.com/pricing, 31 October 2026). A Dokploy server hosts as many static sites and frontends as it can hold for a fixed $9.58 a month, with 1 TB of transfer included, and MassiveGRID PaaS is the managed route.

Why teams leave Netlify

Netlify's pricing page on 31 October 2026 lists Free ($0, 300 credits), Personal ($9 a month, 1,000 credits), Pro ($20 a month with unlimited members, 3,000 credits) and Enterprise by quote, with usage charged in credits: 20 credits per GB of bandwidth (about $0.13 per GB at the Pro pack rate), 10 credits per GB-hour of compute, 2 credits per 10,000 web requests and 15 credits per production deploy. The page does not publish the old bandwidth and build-minute allowances any more.

For a static site that is a fair model until it is not: a popular documentation site or a launch day burns credits on bandwidth and requests, and a team that deploys thirty times a day spends credits on deploys alone. The complaint is the same as with Vercel, predictability, with the extra twist that credits are one step removed from dollars.

What Netlify does better: an edge network that serves every static file from near the visitor, forms and identity with no setup, and nothing to maintain. If your sites are tiny and your traffic modest, the Free or Personal plan may be the right answer.

Two routes off Netlify

There are two honest routes off Netlify, and the right one depends on how much operating you want to do.

Route 1: Dokploy on a VPS you own

A free, open-source dashboard on a MassiveGRID server preset for Dokploy: Git push deployments with webhooks, preview deployments for pull requests, automatic HTTPS through Traefik, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and Redis as services with scheduled backups, scheduled jobs, rollbacks, a web terminal and a template catalogue of 500+ open-source apps. The server is the whole bill, $9.58 a month for the 2 vCPU, 4 GB Starter preset and $39.60 for the 4 vCPU, 8 GB Growth preset on dedicated cores, and MassiveGRID installs Dokploy for you on request. Coolify is the same route with a different dashboard; the self-hosted PaaS page compares the two with CapRover and Dokku.

Route 2: MassiveGRID PaaS, managed

If leaving Netlify must not mean running anything, MassiveGRID PaaS deploys from Git or a Docker image onto a platform we operate, with vertical and horizontal scaling, a 100% uptime SLA, a marketplace of one-click packages and usage billing from $2.46 per cloudlet-month. It costs more than a bare VPS and less than the managed platforms per unit of resource, and there is no server to patch.

Migrating a static site or frontend from Netlify to Dokploy

  1. Create a Dokploy application from the repository with the Static build type: set the build command (npm run build) and the publish directory (dist, build, out or public, whatever netlify.toml named). Create the domain on port 80, which is what Dokploy's Static build type serves on.
  2. Translate redirects and headers from _redirects or netlify.toml into Traefik redirect and headers middlewares in the application's Advanced tab; a framework router handles client-side routes, and the Static build serves index.html at the root.
  3. Move functions into a small Node.js application in the same project, routed on api.yourdomain or a path, and point the frontend at it.
  4. Forms and identity: deploy self-hosted replacements as Compose stacks, or keep a third-party form service if the volume is small.
  5. Add the Umami template for analytics if you used Netlify Analytics.
  6. Point DNS at the server (Cloudflare in front if your visitors are global), confirm the certificate, and remove the site from Netlify after a week.

Dozens of Sites, One Fixed Price

Starter (2 vCPU, 4 GB, 64 GB NVMe) holds dozens of static sites and a few frontends with their APIs for $9.58 a month with 1 TB of transfer; Growth adds room for previews and a database. Dokploy is free and installed on request.

One Command, Full Platform

SSH into your new MassiveGRID server and run this command. Dokploy will install Docker, set up Traefik, configure SSL, and launch the dashboard automatically.

root@massivegrid:~
$ curl -sSL https://dokploy.com/install.sh | sh

Requires a fresh server with Ubuntu 24.04 or Debian 12, at least 2 GB of RAM and 30 GB of disk, and ports 80, 443 and 3000 free. The installer needs root access and sets up Docker, Traefik and all dependencies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions from teams moving static sites off Netlify.

Can Dokploy host static sites?
Yes. The Static build type copies your build output into an Nginx image and serves it; create the domain on port 80. Nixpacks with a publish directory does the same for framework builds. Dozens of static sites fit on the Starter preset, each with its own domain and certificate.
What replaces Netlify Functions, Forms and Identity?
Functions become a small application (Node.js or any language) on the same server behind its own path or subdomain, with no invocation meter. Forms and Identity have no built-in equivalent in Dokploy; deploy a self-hosted form backend and identity provider as Compose stacks or templates, or keep a third-party service for low volumes.
Will I lose preview deployments when I leave Netlify?
No. Dokploy builds each pull request into its own environment on a generated domain when the Git provider sends the webhook, and tears it down when the pull request closes. Each preview is a running container, so budget RAM for the number you keep open at once; the Growth preset (8 GB) handles a handful comfortably.
Who installs and maintains Dokploy on the MassiveGRID server?
Installation is one command on the Ubuntu 24.04 image, or you open a ticket after ordering and MassiveGRID installs Dokploy at no charge. Updating Dokploy is one command you run when you choose; the server, its failover, storage, network and DDoS protection are MassiveGRID’s job, with 24/7 support. If you want the platform operated for you as well, MassiveGRID PaaS is the managed route.
