Hetzner Storage Share is excellent at what it is: a Nextcloud file server priced by the terabyte, in Germany. Teams outgrow it when they need Nextcloud Office, Talk, mailboxes, an SLA, support hours, or a datacenter outside Germany. Why teams look for an alternative
Storage Share users who come to us are not unhappy with Hetzner. They have hit one of five walls. The office suite: the product page lists Contacts, Calendar and Tasks pre-installed and leaves documents to the App Store, and a team that wants to edit spreadsheets together needs a document server set up and sized. Mail: there are no mailboxes, so the company still pays Google or Microsoft for email and ends up with two suites. The connection cap: 50 simultaneous connections on the NX11 is generous for five people and tight for twenty-five with desktop clients, phones and Talk open at once. Geography: Falkenstein is the only location, which is a feature for a German company and a blocker for a British, American or Singaporean one. Assurance: no stated uptime SLA and no choice of support level, which stops mattering at home and starts mattering when a client asks.
